Wood Of Life

Wood Of Life

£115.00

Lignum Vitae has been used to make ‘Crown Green’ or ‘Lawn Bowls” bowling balls since the game was invented in the early eighteen hundreds. This incredibly hard wood is now on the endangered tree species list, therefore it gives me great satisfaction to be able to salvage these old Lignum bowling balls and give the wood a second life.

Lignum Vitae is also the latin translation for “wood of life” and what better way to celebrate life than by wearing a natural organic wooden ring.

This design measures 7mm wide by 2.5mm in depth and has a gentle court D profile and comfortable chamfer on the inside edges. A hard wearing deep gloss varnish is applied which allows the beauty of this unique wood grain to shine through. Please note Lignum Vitae has the unique ability to change colour on exposure to bright sunlight and can range between dark brown and green.

Please note that these are handcrafted from salvaged, reclaimed antique bowling balls, therefore each ring will have its own unique grain pattern, colour, knots and characteristics, making them unique every time.

Presented in an eco ring box as standard and handcrafted to your specific UK or US ring size - please give ring size in form when adding to bag.

Lawn Green Bowling Ball

The Lignum bowl is cut into thin sections and only the most colourful and striking wood is selected to be handcrafted into our wooden rings.

We include an invisible layer of micro fibreglass which is sandwich between the layers of wood, this gives extra strength and flexibility.

A specially formulated maintenance free gloss finish is applied to the finished rings, this allows the beauty of this colour changing wood to shine through.
