Eco Elm And Cherry Wood Ring

Eco Elm And Cherry Wood Ring

£125.00

One of our favourite eco wood rings, making use of fallen trees.

The Elm tree is one of Scotland's rarest trees, its numbers were severely affected during the 1970s due to the Dutch Elm Beatle virtually eradicating this majestic tree from the British countryside, with only a few pockets surviving in highland Scotland. Our Elm is from a tree that fell close to The Wood Hut workshop during a storm in 1986. It was a leviathan of a tree, almost 5 feet in diameter with the most incredible burrs and burls ( mosaic of brown swirling grain) running throughout the tree. Thankfully our Wild Cherry trees are much more widely spread across the UK countryside being both commercially and ornamentally cultivated. We acquired our lovely Cherry from a tree surgeon tiding up branches in a local garden. Both timbers have been carefully seasoned (dried) over the years, with the moisture content regularly checked until perfect for making our wooden rings.

For these wooden rings we only select the most interesting grained wood, highlighting the natural swirls, burls, knots and grain of the Elm. We have included a nice smooth Cherry wood liner with and invisible layer of micro fibre which secures the overall design. A protective gloss varnish is applied which allows the beauty of the Elm and Cherry to shine through.

This design measures 9mm wide and is available in all UK and US ring sizes

A free personalised inscription can be added to the Cherry internal liner eg initials, name or date - please give personalisation initials and ring size in form after adding to bag.
